The Patrol Division is the backbone of the East Moline Police Department. It is the largest and most visible division of the Police Department and provides the first response to emergency and non-emergency calls for service. The goal of Patrol is to assure a safe community environement and quality of life throught both directed and routine patrol. Patrol officers are assigned to specific zones within the city getographically designed to provide quick response to calls for service to any location in the city.

Patrol is comprised of uniformed officers and the K9 program. Patrol officers are highly trainied professionals, responsible for a number of duties, which includes traffic enfrocement, investigtaing reports of crime, conducting initial follow-up investigations, investigating traffic accidents and preparing all necessary written reports of these incidents. When possible, those offenders responsible for any criminal acts are arrested and prosecuted through the officer's investigation and knowledge of the facts.

East Moline Police officers are provided state of the art equipment and technology including mobile lap top computers in the squad cars. These sophisticated computers enhance crime fighting efforts by providing immediate access to vital information such as vehicle license numbers, a suspect's criminal history and call history at locations. A majority of the mobile laptop computers were funded by grants from the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) and the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA).

The Patrol Division of the East Moline Police Department has greatly bnefitted from safety grants from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). In order to promote the safety of the residents of East Moline through traffic enforcement, the police department has participated in the IDOT "Click It or Ticket," the "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose," the Speed Enforcement Program (SEP) and various mini grants. Since 2005, EMPD has received in excess of $150,000 in grant reimbursement for our participation.
