For a Shared Use Path Improvement named the “Grand Illinois Trail Critical Gap Connector”
The City of East Moline, as Lead Public Agency (LPA) announced today a public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. prior to the regular City Council Meeting at the Silvis City Hall, 121 11th Street, Silvis, IL 61282 for the purpose of discussing the development of the Grand Illinois Trail Critical Gap Connector shared-use path. The project begins in East Moline connecting to the Great River Trail along the Mississippi River at the end of Beacon Harbor Parkway and ends in the City of Colona at the end of 6th Street connecting to the Hennepin Canal Trail. The full length of the project is 9.47 miles with 4.28 miles being new separated shared-use trail. All persons interested in this project are invited to attend the meeting.
The proposed improvement will consist of areas of on street bike accommodations along with construction of new off-street path. Areas of sidewalk and driveways will be removed and replaced to provide ADA compliant street curb ramps and path alignment; retaining walls will be needed in spot locations; and drainage inlets will be adjusted when encountered. Additional right-of-way and/or temporary construction easements will be required to complete grading for the proposed shared-use path, driveway improvements, and retaining walls.

The meeting will be conducted on an informal basis, Project displays and other information pertinent to the location and design of the improvement will be available for inspection and review at this informational meeting. Representatives from IMEG Corp. and the various municipalities will be available to explain the project, answer individual questions and record comments offered by those in attendance.
