Properties are inspected routinely May 1st through October 31st every year in accordance with the City's Plant and Weed Ordinance.
The Weed Abatement Program is designed to protect the residential neighborhoods of East Moline. This program is important because high grass and weeds:
- Reduce adjacent property values and prevents neighbors from having full enjoyment of their property during the summer months;
- Attract vermin and insects which create a potential health hazard;
- Cause hayfever and other allergy problems;
- Create a potential fire hazard;
- Detract from the overall beauty and desirability of the city.
