Safe Havens for Newborn Babies A new Illinois law creates Safe Havens for newborn babies. It gives a desperate parent who cannot care for an infant a safe and legal alternative to unsafe abandonment.
Parents don't have to give their names. The infant will get medical care and be adopted. Parents who do not harm their babies will not be prosecuted for abandonment if they give their newborn (up to 7 days old) to a staff member at a Safe Haven. In Illinois these Safe Havens are hospitals, emergency care facilities, staffed fire stations, and police stations.
Help stop the needless deaths of innocent babies. Share this information, and help get it to those who may need to know.
Tell a friend ... talk about it ... you might save a life.
