City Council recently passed an ordinance amending city code to allow for chickens in East Moline. A permit must be filed every year with the office of Community Development.
East Moline Poultry Permit
The keeping of poultry in the city limits shall conform to the following conditions:
a. Maximum number of chickens allowed: four (4) chickens
b. All chickens must be confined to pens.
c. Minimum pen size allowed: minimum 4 square feet per bird
d. No roosters allowed.
e. Minimum distance of pen from property line: fifty (50) feet from any neighboring adjoining structures or lot lines.
f. Minimum distance of pen from dwelling: 25 feet (within your property) from structures for or permitting human habitation.
Additionally -
• All permit applications require a site plan, drawn to scale, showing all structures, existing and proposed, distances to property line and neighboring dwellings.
• Applicants shall comply with all ordinances and codes of the city.
• Applicants agree to allow inspection of premises prior to issuance of permit and periodically thereafter to determine compliance.
• The city may deny the permit to protect the public health, safety and welfare, along with additional factors in the city code.
• Additional permits, fees and requirements may apply. Permits are non‐transferable
